Rough Terrain Forklift Qualification (8-HOUR COURSE)
This UBC forklift safety class satisfies the training requirements of OSHA. Members will be trained on how to maneuver, lift, and transport equipment or materials, and demonstrate their skills by operating the lift. Upon successful completion of the training, the member will have the course completion listed on their Training Verification Card (TVC). This is an 8-hour course 7:00AM - 3:30PM |
Industrial Forklift Qualification (8-HOUR COURSE)
To save lives, OSHA enacted a "Powered Industrial Truck Training" (forklift) safety regulation requiring construction site forklift operators to complete a powered industrial truck safety training course before operating this type of equipment. This UBC course is a basic forklift safety class that satisfies the training requirements of OSHA. You will be trained on how to maneuver, lift and transport equipment or materials, and demonstrate your skills by operating the lift. This class is a comprehensive safety training course designed to address the general safety considerations when using or working around this type of motorized equipment. Mobile Elevating Work Platform or MEWP Qualification (8-HOUR COURSE)
This is an 8 hour This course addresses the Federal requirements for workers performing work from boom supported working platforms or self-propelled platform lifts (boom lifts and scissor lifts). The course consists of classroom presentation and instruction and a hands-on portion which includes pre-shift inspection and operating both types of MEWP. Upon successful completion of the training, the member will have the course completion listed on their Training Verification Card (TVC). This is an 8-hour course 7:00 AM - 3:30PM |
First Aid / CPR (4-HOUR COURSE)
NOT AVAILABLE AT THE FRESNO TRAINING CENTER LOCATION Learning to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or first aid techniques could equip you to rescue a fellow worker, a fellow citizen, or a family member. In cooperation with the American Red Cross, Nor Cal Carpenters offers this course to UBC members. Upon successful completion of the training, the member will have the course completion listed on their Training Verification Card (TVC). Members will also receive a wallet card from American Red Cross. This is a 4-hour course 7:00AM - 11:00AM |
OSHA 10 HOUR (2-DAY COURSE)
This OSHA class is a favorite of Employers to require of their employees the class consists of a 10-hour overview of general and specific OSHA regulations and topics. Upon successful completion of the training, the member will have the course completion listed on their Training Verification Card (TVC). Members will also receive an OSHA 10 wallet card. This is a 10 hour course day one 9/21/2024 will be 6-hours of instruction time 7:00AM - 2:00PM and a second day 9/28/2024 will be 4-hours of instruction time 7:00 AM - 11:30 AM |
FALL PROTECTION (8-HOUR COURSE)
NOT AVAILABLE AT THE FRESNO and FAIRFIELD TRAINING CENTER LOCATIONS Falls are one of the major causes of death in the construction industry. More than 100,000 fall related injuries occur each year. Many of the injuries result in disabilities; approximately 200 result in death. To protect our UBC members as well as other workers on the job, the Carpenters Training Committee for Northern California offers in depth training in Fall Protection. The course covers: regulation requirements, fall protection devices and equipment available, what fall protection equipment to use and when, what is a tie off point and how to use it, and hands on practice with equipment. 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM |
SCAFFOLD USER (8-HOUR COURSE)
NOT AVAILABLE AT THE FRESNO AND MORGAN HILL TRAINING CENTER LOCATIONS A large percentage of all job site falls are from scaffolds. Of all fatalities relating to scaffolds, 70% are caused by falls, 18% are caused by scaffold collapse, and 12% by overhead wire electrocution. This Scaffold User Safety course was developed to make our UBC members aware of the dangers they may encounter when working from a scaffold and how to protect themselves from those mishaps. The course covers potential hazards including: falls, access/egress, falling objects, electrocution, and avoiding scaffold collapse. Instruction is mostly lecture and slide-show presentation with incidental hands-on manipulative exercises. 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM |
